THE NEWPORT NEIGHBORHOOD ENERGY CHALLENGE
The Newport Energy and Environment Commission was constituted by a resolution of the Newport City Council on June 13, 2007. It has been meeting since August, 2007, to investigate cost-effective methods for the city to reduce the use of fossil fuels by energy conservation, improved efficiency, and other ways to reduce carbon emissions most economically, and to encourage its citizens and residents to do the same.  Ms. Beth Milham provided a presentation on the accomplishments of the Commission and introduced the Newport Neighborhood Energy Challenge program.
